Yr 12 and 13 - Online Webinar career options in the music industry 5 March 17.00–17.45
In 2024, the contribution of our Music industry to the UK economy hit a record-breaking level and the number of Music Industry jobs rose to an all-time high. [UK Music annual report: “This Is Music”, Nov 2025].
Hosted by University of Hertfordshire:
After the USA (and comparable to Japan) the UK is regarded as having one of the most successful Music Industries worldwide - both in terms of cultural influence and economic contribution. Furthermore, music is a major player in other booming industries (think - film, TV, advertising, computer games, entertainment & experiences, etc.). Considering just how small the UK actually is (its geographical size & population) this is even more impressive – the UK is an undisputed “global music superpower”.
In order to achieve such an impressive feat, our Music Industry must operate like no other sector, and it could be said that its workforce is a ‘different breed’.
This session spotlights some of the career options available to those wishing to work in the Music Industry and some of the important qualities needed by individuals in order to succeed. (Hot Tip - These are likely very different to what you might initially think, especially at a time when AI is impacting the nature of work for all creative careers).
