Intro To Technical Theatre Is Back!

 

A short ‘Introduction to Technical Theatre’ course for young people aged 13 – 19

 

  • Are you interested in developing new skills in stage management, lighting, sound and visual technologies?

 

  • Do you want to work alongside a live production and make it come to life?

 

If so, our ‘Introduction to Technical Theatre’ course could be just the thing for you!

 

The course, led by Oldham Theatre Workshop and in partnership with Oldham Coliseum Theatre is designed to offer young people (aged 13 – 19 years) their first opportunity to learn about some of the technical aspects of the theatre making process. Leading industry professionals will join the process to deliver specific modules on Lighting, Sound and Stage Management. On completion, participants will gain a number of course specific AQA qualifications and a portfolio of work produced. We will also be working closely with partners in further and higher education to ensure a clear pathway for those wishing to continue learning in this field.

 

When?

 

Friday Evenings 5:00PM – 8:00PM.

 

First session

 

Friday 22nd May 2026.

 

Production week

 

The young people on the technical course will be helping to support our Summer Production ‘Heist School Musical’ and ‘Kushi Festival 2026’.

 

Production weeks for both will run from 18th July – 1st August . This will include dress, tech, and evening and daytime performances.

 

Where?

 

Weekly sessions will take place at Oldham Theatre Workshop and Professional Theatre Venues.

 

Cost?

 

This course is fully funded and therefore FREE to all participants.

 

Support will also be given to cover any expenses incurred and to ensure all financial barriers to participation are removed.
