Year 12 and 13 - Summer volunteering opportunities with the NHS

  Our programme is now in its successful 3rd year and was initiated by the Volunteering Team of The Northern Care Alliance. From feedback and questionnaires we realised many students 16+ who had completed their exams, were looking for experience in the NHS during the few summer months before they resume their studies in September. Our programme has grown year on year and last year we recruited over 200 students across our 4 sites, Salford, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham. We are proud of our retention, many of the students now slotting shifts around their college weekly timetables. Snapshot of last year Summer 60 Student’s successes. Helping on busy wards.   In the NHS there are over 50 scientific specialisms, and over the last 75 years NHS healthcare science has played a vital role in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease and the health of our population.  For the session - in celebration of Healthcare Science Week, 11-15 March - we will be exploring opportunities in the world of healthcare sciences. Students will hear from diverse healthcare scientists in the NHS, gain insight into their roles, and learn about entry routes into this particular field of healthcare work. We’re looking for talented and enthusiastic people committed to a career in journalism, either through their writing, work experience, academic choices or their career so far.
